Getting Started with Planning

This section explains how to open the Planning Module and provides an overview of its layout.

Opening the Planning Module

The Planning Module can be opened via:

Main Menu → Forecasts

By default, the module opens in a pop-up window within the Reporting Module.

Click the name text of a case and the Planning Module in a separate browser tab wil open. This allows you to work independently in the Planning Module while keeping it open.

Planning Module Layout

Like the Reporting Module, the Planning Module includes:

  • A vertical menu on the left.

  • A horizontal menu at the top.

The menu can be opened or closed using the button in the upper-left corner:

  • ☰ (three horizontal lines) - Open the menu.

  • - Close the menu.

Working with Plans

The name of the current plan is displayed in the horizontal menu.

  • Click the button next to the plan name to select a different plan.

  • Each plan opens in a separate browser tab.

  • Multiple plans can be opened and used simultaneously.

If you sign out, the Planning Module remains visible, but no new data will be loaded.

Menu Sections

The vertical menu consists of the following sections.

Settings

Contains the basic information and configuration for the plan.

These settings are required for forecast calculations.

Manage

Contains all planning data, including:

  • General Ledger Accounts

  • Cost Centers

  • Scenarios

You can also add new planning data here.

Historical Figures

Displays the imported financial data for each month.

This section is also used to define the carry-forward of Balance Sheet accounts, which serves as the basis for the forecast.

Planning

Contains the planning input screens.

Each row represents a planning item with amounts for each reporting period.

Imports

Displays imported template files.

  • Templates contain multiple planning items.

  • Deleting a template also removes the linked planning items.

  • Any manual changes made to those planning items are also removed when the template is deleted.

Calculate

This section is used to calculate the planning results.

You can choose:

  • Which data to include.

  • Which calculation settings to apply.

Factview then calculates the forecast for:

  • Profit and Loss Statement

  • Balance Sheet

  • Cash Flow Statement

Working in Separate Browser Tabs

Plans can be opened in separate browser tabs.

This allows you to:

  • Work with multiple plans at the same time.

  • Easily compare different scenarios.
